Peter Holmstedt – Principal

Peter Holmstedt, Principal of BEMU, is a bass player, educator and dedicated Star Wars enthusiast. After attending Berklee College of Music’s Summer Performance Program in 1992, he continued to develop as a musician through extensive professional experience, performing and collaborating with a wide range of bands and artists. For Peter, the essence of music lies in playing with others — being fully present, responding in the moment and creating something together. This passion for musical interaction has led him to work across a broad spectrum of styles and genres throughout his career. Over the years, Peter has performed, recorded and taken part in clinics with artists such as Eric Gadd, Morgan Ågren, Dan Reed, Jojje Wadenius, Conny Bloom, LaGaylia Frazier and Papa Dee, among others. Today, he performs primarily with the band P-Floyd.

David Myhr – Programme Director

BEMU’s Programme Director, David Myhr, first gained international recognition in the 1990s as frontman of The Merrymakers, a band that enjoyed particular success in Japan. During the 2000s, he continued working extensively with the Japanese music industry as a songwriter and producer for a range of artists. Today, David is also an established solo artist, with two albums and two EPs to his name. His songwriting credits include music for feature films as well as numerous jingles for radio advertising. A lifelong Beatles devotee, David occasionally performs as The Living Beatles Jukebox, and he also takes on the role of “Benny” in the ABBA tribute band Super Trouper. At BEMU, David teaches subjects including songwriting and music industry studies, and also supervises students’ degree projects.

Jakob Grundtman – Technical Director / Teacher

Jakob Grundtman teaches audio engineering and music production at BEMU, working closely with students in our studio environments. He has a background as a freelance mixing engineer, producer and live sound engineer based in Falun. As a mixing engineer, Jakob has worked with a wide range of artists, bands and musical genres. He is also a musician himself and grew up playing everything from Greek folk music to hard rock. He started out on the nyckelharpa before later moving on to bass and guitar. When he is not in the studio, Jakob works extensively in live sound and has spent many years touring with artists such as The Tallest Man on Earth and Daniel Norgren. Today, he also works as a systems engineer at the renowned Dalhalla concert venue.

Thomas Alm – Communications Manager

Saxophonist, composer and arranger Thomas Alm studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Alongside his work at BEMU, he is active as a freelance musician and teaches at Brunnsvik Creative Music and Musikkonservatoriet Falun. Thomas also runs Elm Tree Studio and has collaborated with a wide range of artists throughout his career. He leads his own quartet, the soul band Soulstation and Elm Tree Soul Project, and is also a member of P-Floyd, a band that has enjoyed major success in Sweden with its large-scale and visually spectacular Pink Floyd tribute shows.
